All About Reformer Pilates!

What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is a dynamic, low impact form of exercise performed on a specialist spring-based machine called a reformer. Using controlled, precise movements against adjustable resistance, it builds strength, mobility, balance and deep core stability all at the same time. The springs create smooth tension that supports your joints while challenging your muscles in a way that feels strong and energising, not exhausting.

It’s about moving with intention, improving posture, preventing injury and helping your body feel powerful, aligned and resilient. You’ll move in a way that challenges without depleting, leaving you feeling taller, stronger and ready for whatever life throws at you.

Strong Starts Here. Every Class, Every Rep, Every Result.

We will be running two Reformer Pilates class levels to help everyone train safely and confidently.

BOD Begin & Flow – is perfect if you’re completely new to Reformer Pilates, returning after a break, or building back following injury. These sessions focus on technique including some of the Pilates principles including control, alignment and breathing. This Reformer Pilates class will improve your understanding about how the Reformer machine works so you feel strong and supported from the start.

BOD Dynamic – is designed for those who are comfortable on the Reformer machine and ready to progress their Reformer Pilates.  This Pilates class has more dynamic sequencing and quicker transitions between exercises. (To join this class, it’s recommended that you attended at least 3 Reformer classes to ensure you’ve built the foundations needed to move well and get the most from the challenge.)

A few things to remember before your Reformer Pilates class:

  • Arrive 5 minutes early – Take a moment to settle in and familiarise yourself with the space before the Reformer Pilates class begins.
  • Wear grip socks – These help you stay safe and stable throughout your session, and also hygiene reasons. Bring your own socks, or they are available to purchase at our studio. These are a Non-negotiable!
  • Move at your own pace – Every body is different. Focus on progress, not perfection.
  • Stay hydrated – Please bring a water bottle, your body will thank you for it.
  • Cleaning – We ask that you clean down your reformer after each class.

Members can book up to 4 weeks in advance. Non contract members and pack holders you can book up to 2 weeks in advance.

Nope! Absolute beginners are welcome. Your instructor will guide you through every setup, spring change, and movement so you feel confident and supported from day one. We recommend starting with our 'BOD Begin and Flow' class which is designed for beginners in Reformer Pilates. See our recent blog about trying reformer as a beginner: https://bodstudios.co.uknews/can-i-do-reformer-pilates-if-ive-never-tried-it-before/

You need to cancel the class at least 24 hours notice to get the credit back on your account.

After 12 weeks pregnant you will not be able to join the group reformer classes. You can re-join 8 weeks postpartum once you've had medical clearance. If you had a C-section, you may need a little longer. We will be offering in the near future Pilates pre and post natal classes.
